Product Specs

Included are: a pipette for dropping test fluids onto the prism (never dip the refractometer into the test fluid!), a mini screwdriver for scale calibration, and a Users Guide.
One NEW NIS-28ATC (0-28% Salinity Scale) portable Salinity Refractometer in a blue, foam-lined hard case. The NIS series of portable refractometers is designed to measure the salinity of sea water and saline solutions of similar concentration. This unit is ideal for the packaging of brine fluids used for food preservation in jarred or canned foods. You can also measure pickling fluids for food preparation.
The 0-28% Salinity range covers the spectrum in which Salt (NaCl) will stay soluble in water. Beyond 28%, the Salt will fall out of solubility. This unit will only be able to read TOTAL Salinity. It can not differentiate the difference between Potassium Chloride versus Sodium Chloride, again, just the TOTAL percentage of Salinity in a fluid.
All NIS models use ambient light, no battery or power source is required. Models with the “ATC” suffix are equipped with “Automatic Temperature Compensation” for accurate measurements without recalibration after shifts in ambient working temperature (field use).
This unit is not suggested for Salinity testing for marine environments!
